All Cedar Creek Illinois products are constructed of Western Red Cedar which contains natural preservatives.  It resists insect attack, rot, and weathers extremely well.  With reasonable care this product will provide many seasons of service.  A quality sealer will delay the graying of the wood and give additional protection.  If left in its natural state, cedar will weather to a silvery gray.

Cedar, a natural resource, is a great choice for the garden, patio or deck.  Cedar is a very porous, soft and light-weight wood.  Cedar being so porous absorbs and dissipates water very easily, making it an ideal choice for areas with a lot of sunlight.  Cedar that is subjected to high moisture for a long period of time may mold and/or rot.  Cedar products when shipped to you, have been assembled at Cedar Creek Illinois using yellow chromate screws to give it strength and appeal.  Over a period of time, due to weather conditions, the screws may become loose, or the holes bored.  If this happens you can replace the screws with larger ones.  Cedar products and accessories will weather to a beautiful silver-gray.  Weather will deteriorate any wood that is left untreated.  It is recommended that you use a quality sealer and that you do not attempt to drag or move your product once it has weathered, or has had additional weight added to it.  You should lift from both ends and carry the product to a new location.
